Sustainable Drives

Climate-neutral drives for mobility with renewable energy sources in harmony with social needs are another focus area of research at Leibniz Universität Hannover. The focus here is particularly on drives in electromobility, the electrification of vehicle units and climate-neutral long-distance mobility, aviation and shipping as well as in the area of mobility behavior. In electromobility, research is being conducted into the electric drivetrain with motor, transmission, power electronics, energy storage and drive control. In addition, aspects of grid connection, synthetic fuels and storage are the subject of joint research.

The Cluster of Excellence EXC 2163 "Sustainable and Energy-Efficient Aviation - SE2A" researches sustainable aviation and all its facets. In addition to the electrification of aircraft and their power units, one focus here is research into suitable sustainable energy sources for aircraft propulsion systems, including for long distances.

With the "MOBILISE - Mobility in Engineering and Science" master plan, the scientific alliance of the TU Braunschweig and Leibniz Universität Hannover has agreed to work together. The research centers NFF and NFL are also cooperation partners here.
