Thermal and electrochemical energy conversion

An important area of expertise in the context of technology development lies in the field of thermal and electrochemical energy conversion, with the fields of technical thermodynamics/heat transfer, combustion technology, thermal turbomachinery and water electrolysis represented at Leibniz Universität Hannover. This area is particularly important when direct electrical energy conversion routes are technically impractical or not feasible or when there is an interdependence with material utilization routes.

Mastering the dynamics of mechanical, chemical and thermal conversion processes is another focus of interdisciplinary research at Leibniz Universität Hannover. At the heart of this is the Dynamics of Energy Conversion (DEW) research network, which also brings together various specialist disciplines in one research building.
