The Solar Summer School 2024 starts on Monday, April 15, 2024. The SOLAR Summer + Winter Schools offer the opportunity to acquire theoretical and practical knowledge in order to be able to provide initial advice on the use of solar power systems for homeowners, companies and other building owners at the end of the course. It is organized by the Central Institution for Continuing Education (ZEW) at Leibniz University Hannover and will take place this year during the semester. Converting the energy supply to renewable energies is one of the major social challenges of our time. Interest in solar energy on roofs has risen sharply and is reflected in the demand for solar consultations by experienced energy consultants.

In order to meet this demand quickly, the SOLAR Summer School from August 22 to September 2 is planned to build up unconventional expertise to support solar consultations in the city and region of Hanover in order to support the local energy transition.

Leibniz University Hannover is organizing a Solar Summer School for interested students together with Hannover University of Applied Sciences and Arts, Hannover Chamber of Crafts, Climate Protection Agency Hannover, the Institute for Solar Energy Research Hameln and ProKlima. The idea is that students can also act as multipliers in their social environment and at the same time acquire additional qualifications in the field of energy consulting support services during their studies.

In the first week of the summer school, the basics of solar consulting are taught, which are then applied to a building in small groups in the second week. At the end, the students present their proposed solutions and discuss the results, to which interested companies and offices from the region are also invited. There will be an opportunity for mutual introductions and contacts if active work in this area is conceivable. The pilot project will then be further developed and opened up to other target groups.
